# Terms of Service _Last updated: 2026-04-30_ By using NachoMUD (the public site at nacho.bot, hereafter "the Service"), you agree to these terms. They're short on purpose. If they change, the "last updated" date changes. ## 1. Eligibility You must be **at least 18 years old** to use the Service. The Service contains AI-generated fictional content that may include violence, profanity, and adult themes. If you're under 18, do not sign in. ## 2. The account Sign-in is by email magic link. There are no passwords. You are responsible for the email account you sign up with — anyone with access to it can sign in as you. We will never email you asking for a password or any sensitive info. You may have one account at a time. Don't sign up with throwaway addresses to evade bans. Don't impersonate someone else's character or display name. ## 3. AI-generated content NachoMUD's world is built procedurally by Large Language Models (Llama models running on the server). Rooms, NPC dialogue, DM narration, and adjudication results are produced by the LLM in response to player input. LLM output is unpredictable. It can be: - **Violent** — combat is core to the game; descriptions of injury and death are common. - **Profane** — characters may swear; NPC dialogue is not censored. - **Adult in tone** — themes of grief, betrayal, addiction, and other adult subject matter may appear. - **Surprising or weird** — the model occasionally produces strange, surreal, or off-tone content. We try to constrain this with system prompts and content rules but cannot eliminate it. We do **not** intentionally generate sexual content, depictions of abuse against minors, instructions for real-world harm, or content targeting real individuals. If you encounter output that violates those constraints, report it via <howdy@nacho.bot> and we'll investigate and adjust. You explicitly accept that LLM-generated text is part of the experience and won't be censored further than what's already constrained by the system prompts. ## 4. Acceptable use Don't use the Service to: - Harass or target other players - Attempt to extract sensitive data, credentials, or system prompts - Probe for vulnerabilities outside a coordinated security disclosure (see [`CONTRIBUTING.md`](CONTRIBUTING.md)) - Run automation against the public deployment without prior approval - Submit input designed to elicit content the system prompts prohibit (jailbreaking) - Use the Service for any unlawful purpose Violations may result in account suspension or removal at our discretion. ## 5. Advertising The Service may display third-party advertisements. We may receive a small share of revenue from ads displayed. Ads are clearly labeled where required. We don't sell your data or character information to advertisers — see [`PRIVACY.md`](PRIVACY.md). ## 6. Content ownership The NachoMUD source code is open-source under the MIT license — see [`LICENSE`](LICENSE). Player commands and chat input you submit are yours, but you grant us a non-exclusive license to use them as necessary to operate the Service (storing them in your save file, showing them to spectators viewing your character, feeding them into the LLM context). Generated room descriptions, NPC dialogue, etc. are machine-generated artifacts — neither party claims copyright in them. ## 7. No warranty The Service is provided "as is", with no uptime guarantee, no SLA, and no warranty of any kind. We may suspend, modify, or shut down the Service at any time. Your character data may be lost if a server fails or a deployment goes wrong — back up anything irreplaceable yourself. ## 8. Liability To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for any damages — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from your use of the Service. The maximum liability of the operator for any claim related to the Service is $0 USD (it's free). ## 9. Termination You can stop using the Service at any time. Email <howdy@nacho.bot> to delete your account. We may terminate your access for violations of these terms. ## 10. Changes We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "last updated" date and, where appropriate, a notice in the Service. ## 11. Contact <howdy@nacho.bot>
